If a double decker bus..
When the Romans left the British Isles in the 5th century, we entered a period called the dark ages, apparently, where we were in danger of losing all our accumulated knowledge, if it hadn’t been for the monasteries – and that’s all I know about that until I’ve watched Dan Snow on BBC4 later.
It’s enough information though to reason that we have recently emerged into a new light age, where all the world’s accumulated knowledge is just a click away.
An example chosen gratuitously in honour of Morrissey’s 50th birthday last week – knowledge we could only have guessed at before itunes was invented, that our favourite Smith’s songs are ‘There is a light and it never goes out’ followed by ‘Heaven knows I’m miserable now’ and ‘Panic’
And if I were minded, I could share this info on Facebook and Twitter, maybe watch the song performed on You Tube and find some new daffodil waving buddies on a forum somewhere.
While this may be the new PR in the new light age, it wouldn’t be very Smiths so I may just give the ‘Meat is Murder’ LP a spin for old times sake.
