Centaur launches site for online pr and reputation

reputationonlineIn case the PR industry needed any more clues about the future significance of online PR, Centaur Media, not a company known for throwing money around on spurious projects, is launching Reputation Online on September 28th.

The new editor, blogger, commentator and former tech PR Vikki Chowney says “there’s a vital need for a site where reputation practitioners and clients can discuss ideas and approaches” and this is so true. All the surveys show that marketers want to use social media but just don’t have enough information on how to do it.

With my old publisher hat on, this also raises intriguing questions about Haymarket and Centaur’s long running battle for marketing sector supremecy. Is this a launch against PR Week? Surely Haymarket will see this as Centaur incroaching on their long held territory? And what to make of Centaur using an ad funded model rather than their signature subscription one?

Back with my PR hat on (it’s a Fez I fancy) I’m psyched – in a British sort of way – about this launch. This is a massive opportunity for the PR industry to partner with an expert online source (part of Michael Nutley’s NMA stable) and start building some online reputation of its own.
